F.Y B.Ed PTA Meeting held on the 14/10/23

A Parent-Teacher Meeting was held on 14th October 2023. Parents and guardians of the F.Y. B. Ed Teacher Trainees attended the aforementioned meeting in large numbers. The meeting began with a short prayer by Ms Millie Pereira, Assistant Professor at Nirmala Institute of Education. Dr Delia Antao, the Officiating Principal of Nirmala Institute extended a warm welcome to everyone present for the meeting. She then expressed her gratitude to the parents and guardians for their willingness to collaborate with the faculty in decision-making pertaining to their wards. She poignantly stated that the challenges faced by the teacher trainees in coping up with their demanding professional enterprise and the institute’s goal in creating a cadre of teachers who will be catalysts of change in the present milieu.

Then, followed a variegated presentation by Mr Raymond Pereira (Assistant Professor of Visual Arts), who showcased life at Nirmala Institute in its primeval glory. He poignantly stated that the institute endeavours ceaselessly in forming educators who are holistically trained in all parameters: academics, curricular, and extracurricular aspects and are equipped for an ever- dynamic and evolving educational landscape. He further reiterated how Nirmala Institute has extended its vision and embraced a holistic approach in keeping abreast with the emerging trends and innovations in the field of Education. The Institute now offers a variety of other courses such as Master’s Degree in Wellness Counselling, Post-Graduate Diploma in Guidance and Counselling (PGDGC), Diploma in Elementary Education (D. El. Ed), Pre-School Teacher Training Course and several other courses and counselling services besides the regular Bachelor in Education Programme (B. Ed) which this premiere Institute had pioneered in the state since its inception in 1963.

Dr Rita Paes, the Director of Nirmala Institute, in her address to the gathering highlighted the contribution of Nirmala Institute of Education to the state of Goa over the six decades of its existence and its tryst to provide quality education to the youth of Goa based on the need of the times. She reiterated how Nirmala Institute has extended its vision and embraced a holistic approach in keeping abreast with the emerging trends and innovations in the field of Education.

The highlight of the event was an enlightening session conducted by Mrs, Sulaxa Gawas, a Clinical Psychologist and a freelancing Counsellor. The topic of the session conducted by Mrs. Gawas was ‘Role of Family in Grooming Educators’. She emphasised how unconditional love and acceptance can bring about healing and wholeness and free an individual from the debilitating clutches of stress and trauma to be truly free to live one’s life to the fullest. Then followed an interesting activity reiterating the same using practical examples and personalised reflection. A few parents were then requested to volunteer to be a part of the core committee of the Parent- Teacher Association (PTA) of Nirmala Institute of Education. The meeting ended with a formal vote of thanks aptly delivered by Dr Delia Antao the Officiating Principal of Nirmala Institute of Education. The event was resourcefully hosted by Ms Usha Kuttiyal, the B. Ed. Counsellor.
