Cancer Awareness Session 2026
A Cancer Awareness Session was organized by Nirmala Institute of Education under the Aegis of IQAC in collaboration with V Care Foundation, Mumbai on 17th July 2026. The participants included the Faculty, Staff, F.Y.B.Ed. S.Y.B.Ed. and M.A. Wellness students of Nirmala Institute of Education.
The main objective of this session was to increase awareness about cancer prevention, early detection, and the role of educators in promoting healthy lifestyles. The session also aimed to dispel common myths about cancer and encourage participants to adopt preventive health practices.
The resource person, Ms. Jyoti Patil Shah, CEO of V Care Foundation, Mumbai explained the different types of cancer, common warning signs, risk factors, and the importance of regular health check-ups and screening. Special emphasis was placed on lifestyle modifications such as maintaining a balanced diet, engaging in regular physical activity and avoiding tobacco and excessive alcohol consumption.
The session also highlighted the significance of early diagnosis, as timely detection greatly improves treatment outcomes. Students actively participated in the interactive session and got an understanding on how teachers can contribute to spreading cancer awareness among school children, parents, and the wider community.
At the end of the session, Ms. Jyoti Patil Shah, CEO of V Care Foundation presented a certificate as a token of gratitude to Nirmala Institute of Education in recognition of our contribution to cancer awareness.
The programme concluded with a Vote of Thanks, expressing gratitude to the resource person for the informative and engaging session. The participants appreciated the practical information shared and expressed their commitment to promoting health awareness in their future roles as educators. Overall, the session was highly informative, enriching, and successful in fostering awareness about cancer prevention and early detection.
