Nirmala Institute of Education organized a Campus Placement Programme jointly by the Alumni Association of NIE and the Placement Cell of NIE, in collaboration with GEMS Education, on 19 September 2026. The programme provided NIE students and alumni with an opportunity to learn about career opportunities in an international educational organization and participate in the recruitment process.
The programme commenced at 10:00 a.m. in the NIE Hall with an introductory video showcasing GEMS Education and its teams.
The programme was graced by Dr. Russell D'Souza, Principal, NIE; Sr. Sunnita Cruz, Director, NIE; Sr. Olga Vaz, Vice President, NES; and Ms. Nargish Khambatta, Executive Vice President, GEMS Education.
In his address, Dr. Russell D'Souza motivated the students to think beyond the box and explore diverse professional opportunities. He also introduced the resource person, Ms. Nargish Khambatta. The programme also included the birthday celebration of Ms. Nargish Khambatta.
Ms. Khambatta provided an overview of GEMS Education, covering its history, manifesto, core values, and emphasis on academic excellence. She also highlighted the facilities and professional benefits available to teachers, including accommodation, remuneration, health insurance and tuition benefits for teachers' children, where applicable. The qualities expected of a GEMS teacher, such as passion for teaching and learning, teamwork, and willingness to work in an international environment, were also discussed. She further explained the different categories of GEMS schools, ranging from premium-plus to low-cost institutions.
An interactive session enabled students to clarify their queries regarding teaching opportunities and professional expectations. The resource person also discussed pedagogical approaches and techniques, including UTL, Early Release, and Rosenshine's Principles of Instruction.
A total of 22 NIE alumni participated in the recruitment process. One-to-one interviews were conducted in the ICT Lab.
