‘Vriksha Raksha Bandhan Utsav’

The F.Y B.Ed Teacher Trainees of Nirmala Institute of Education, celebrated ‘Raksha Bandhan’ on  the 30th August 2023 as ‘Vriksha Raksha Bandhan Utsav’ wherein the trainees tied an eco-friendly rakhi's to the trees in the campus as a symbolic gesture and pledged to nurture, preserve and protect them.

Raksha Bandhan, a day for sisters to express their love and concern for their brothers; and for brothers to promise to protect their sisters, which marks the loving bond between siblings. The idea of tying rakhis to the trees is important; although we plant several trees on various occasions, it is even more important to protect them and ensure that they nurture well.

The Environment Day celebration group presented a short programme, highlighting various environmental issues, through a song, video and a pantomime. The theme chosen for the day was 'One Earth- Protect, Preserve and Prosper.' There was a video reel and eco-friendly Rakhi making competition for the trainees. The trainees were mentored by the NIE-SAC coordinators Mr.Raymond Pereira and Mr.Subodh Haldankar. Sr.Delia Antao, the officiating principal in her address, enlightened the trainees to be more humane and proactive in their daily approach and conduct towards the environment.

This initiative was taken by the NIE-Swachhata Abhiyan Cell and the Environment Day Celebration Group under the aegis of NIE-IQAC, to instill environmental consciousness in the trainees and nurture in them love for Mother Nature.
