PERFORMANCE at THE INTERNATIONAL PURPLE FEST EVENT

REPORT ON THE INTERNATIONAL PURPLE FEST EVENT HELD ON 09/01/24, AT KALA  ACADEMY –GOA.

The international purple fest organized by the state commissioner office for persons with disabilities, in collaboration with the directorate of social welfare, government of Goa, and supported by the department of empowerment of persons with disabilities, ministry of social justice and empowerment, government of India, was held from the 8th to the 13th of January 2024 at various venues in North Goa. The fest aimed to showcase the talent of persons with disabilities through engaging performances in music, dance and entertainment.

The students of Nirmala Institute of Education, Altinho- Panjim participated in the live performance for the same on the 9th of January 2024 at Kala Academy, Panjim-Goa. The programme started at around 10:30 and total 23 students from NIE participated in the same with Madam Gautami Khandeparkar as their guide. F.Y. B.Ed. students presented an energetic kunbi dance performance which is a Goan folk dance that left the crowed wanting more, while the rest presented an emotional skit on the topic mental health that put forward a very meaningful message that “ we should reach out to those undergoing psychological trauma to eradicate all harmful stigmas. To treat those who need us with love and care. To keep our slate clean as white as a dove and respect every person no matter what they are going through.” The programme consisted of 10 performances by different schools, followed by the distribution of mementos and certificates to the performers. The programme ended by 1:30 pm. It truly was a fulfilling experience for the students.
