A 2 day National Conference entitled ‘Digital Technologies are the Future’ was organised by Nirmala Institute of Education
Street plays on the theme ‘Aatmanirbhar Bharat Ani Swayampurna Goenchi Aajchi Naarishakti’
The First Year B.Ed. students of Konkani Methodology, Nirmala Institute of Education performed two street plays on the theme ‘Aatmanirbhar Bharat Ani Swayampurna Goenchi Aajchi Naarishakti’ to celebrate ‘Bharat ki Azadi ka Amrut Mahotsav and Goa @60’ with a special focus on ‘Women Empowerment’, on 19th November 2021 from 12:30 pm to 1: 15 pm.
The North Goa group performed on the topic ‘Aatmanirbhar Bharatachi Aajchi Naarishakti’. The main focus was on the changing roles of women in contemporary India. The issues that were highlighted were changing roles of women in male dominant employment fields, women’s achievements in sports, empowerment of women through various organizations like Self Help Groups and entrepreneurship. The play also focused on gender equity by showing the role of some men assisting in household chores. Songs were also sung highlighting the issues and how women have come forward to show their strengths at various levels.

The South Goa students’ group performed the street play on ‘Swayampurna Goenchi Aajchi Naarishakti’ inorder to spread awareness about the problems faced by women in society. The entire idea of the street play was to enlighten the minds of people about the importance of every woman in society. Domestic violence which is deeply entrenched and widely prevalent in our society, was highlighted under the ‘Protection of Women from Domestic Violence Act 2005’. Equal rights for women was highlighted based on ‘Equal Remuneration Act 1976’ and safety of women was also taken into consideration under ‘Section 354 A of the Indian Penal Code’. The songs that were sung were also related to women empowerment.
The message that was conveyed through the street play was that women should no longer be treated as inferior to men. If a woman raises her voice, she can bring about a big change in society.
