Organised a session on 'Leading with purpose: Building the Educators'
Nirmala Institute of Education or under the aegis of IQAC, organized a Talk on Leadership Skills on 30th June 2026 for the First Year B.Ed. students in the M.A. Wellness and Counselling Hall. The programme was conducted with the objective of developing leadership qualities and interpersonal skills among future educators. The resource person for the session was Mr. Alan D’Souza, Business Consultant and Educator from Leadership Studio IND.
The programme commenced with a warm welcome by Ms. Flacy Raposo. This was followed by the introduction of the resource person by Ms. Pearl Sequeira, who highlighted Mr. D’Souza’s professional expertise and notable achievements in the field of leadership and business consultancy. As a token of appreciation and gratitude, a potted plant was presented to the guest speaker by Ms. Selifa Fernandes.
Mr. Alan D’Souza then delivered an engaging and inspiring session on the essence of effective leadership. Drawing from his extensive experience, he emphasized that leadership is not merely about occupying positions of authority but about inspiring and influencing others through vision, responsibility, integrity, and effective communication. He encouraged students to cultivate enthusiasm and positive energy, reminding them that true leadership lies in serving others, aptly stating that "In giving is living."
The session was highly interactive, featuring action songs and team-building activities that fostered collaboration, decision-making, adaptability, and problem-solving skills. Through these activities, students experienced the importance of teamwork and effective leadership in practical situations. Mr. D’Souza also explained the key attributes of successful leaders using the acronym C.A.M.P., representing Communication, Authenticity, Motivation, and Power, highlighting how these qualities contribute to personal and professional growth.
Concluding the session, Mr. D’Souza inspired the students with the thought-provoking message, "Make a decision, then make it right," encouraging them to take responsibility for their choices and strive for excellence.
The programme concluded with a heartfelt vote of thanks delivered by Ms. Brunilda Andrade, who expressed sincere gratitude to the resource person for his valuable insights and motivating interaction with the students. Overall, the session was highly enriching and inspiring, enabling the First Year B.Ed. students to develop a deeper understanding of leadership and its significance in becoming competent, confident, and socially responsible educators.
