The session on Humane Education was organised in the context of the recent directions of the Hon’ble Supreme Court of India concerning the management of the stray dog menace and public awareness. Taking note of the increasing incidence of dog bite cases, particularly in and around educational institutions and other public spaces, the Hon’ble Court has emphasised the need for scientific awareness, responsible community participation, rabies prevention, vaccination and humane management of stray dogs in accordance with the law.
Tree Plantation Drive 2026
The Management, staff, faculty and students of Nirmala Institute of Education, Panjim Goa celebrated Van Mahotsav on campus by planting fruit bearing trees on the 7th July 2026..
As the theme of the Van Mahotsav 2026 rightly quotes- "Healing the Earth through Greener Initiatives", the Swachhata Abhiyan Cell organised the programme as a gesture of protecting and safeguarding our green siblings for a better tomorrow.
On this occasion the Principal Dr. Russell D'Souza highlighted the need for more greener cover and lovingly nurturing the plants for future generation. Sr. Sunitha Cruz appreciated the initiative inculcating in every teacher trainee values and responsibility towards mother earth.
As part of the curriculum the NIE-Swachhata Abhiyan Cell was set up in 2019 and since then has been initiating several programmes for the teacher trainees partly in accordance with the MGNCRE and Swachh Bharat Abhiyan guidelines.
The programme was managed by Mr. Raymond Pereira , Co-ordinator NIE-SAC and member Mrs.Suvarna Gauns.
